Domino Records - Independent

Domino Records Independent - case study The Domino Recording company was created in Putney, London by Laurence Bell and Jaqui Rice in 1993. This is an independent company rather than a conglomerate like the Walt Disney Company meaning that it is self-controlled and owned by no other companies. They specialise in recording and producing music and have stuck to the same ethos for over 25 years and have signed artists such as Arctic Monkeys and Pavement who have become famous worldwide.  As they are an independent company, this means that they can take more risky choices and take on smaller artists that might not necessarily be successful. Domino Records own many recording studios along with the recording right to Artic Monkeys, Franz Ferdinand and Pavement along with many other artists. Domino Records is now a worldwide company with bases in France and New York and while it's main division is recording and publishing music, they also distribute merchandise and concert tickets t...

A public service broadcaster is one which provides channels intended for the benefit of the public rather than commercial advertising purposes. Their main purpose is to entertain, accurately inform and educate the general public which BBC does through all of it's channels compared to other providers such as Channel 4 which only do so on their main channel. The BBC has been regulated since 2017 by Ofcom to hold the editorial standards and ensure that it meets all the requirements to remain as a public service broadcaster. The BBC is primarily funded through the annual license fee charged on every household, company and organisation which chooses to use any form of TV either live or on iplayer. This is currently £157.50 a year and funds all of BBCs television, radio and online programs. However, it is also added to by income from 3 other main sources: BBC Studios, B...
